Oh craft!

Here’s a preview of some of the earrings that I delivered today in Pipino for this Saturday’s Craft Soiree event: (Click on each picture to enlarge.)

I got an email from Alessa Lanot last Monday and I swear, my heart skipped a beat! I am an Alessa Lanot fangirl, kaya nakakagulat at nakakatuwa at the same time na makakuha ng email mula sa kanya. Wheeee! I had to deliver twenty pairs of earrings before May 4 nga lang to be part of the craft exchange, so for two nights, yan ang pinagpuyatan ko. I made three pairs on the first night, I really couldn’t make anything dahil na rin siguro sa pagod. Kagabi, naigapang ko ang seventeen pairs! Yahoo!

PS: I’ve never really had a “success story” when it comes to making earrings. I guess I’ve never really taken this hobby seriously. Pampawala lang ng stress, ganon. Forgive me for being this thrilled for this little project, which I hope will be the first of many, many exciting things. Wheeee!

Weekend!

For the first time ever, I am home alone. Hindi pa nakakauwi sila Mama so present tense pa rin yan ha. In fairness, fun pala! Take home work, done! That’s just the first of many things I was able to do for the past forty eight hours.

Yan, perfect for summer: colorful wooden bead necklace, red glass necklace, purple mega pendant, glass earrings and Year of the Dragon charm necklace.

I have no left over laundry! Hahaha. First time yatang mangyari sa akin ‘to. Wheeee!

Say hello to half of my version of rosemary chicken with chili. It’s like the adult version of Tokyo Cafe’s chicken stew, na ang tawag ko ay adobo ng sosyal. Basically, para syang chicken adobo without the vinegar and laurel leaves. Add some rosemary leaves and sliced siling labuyo. Isang pirasong sili lang ginamit ko though, kasi I didn’t eat it with rice and it was just an experiment. Putting a lot of garlic helps with the taste BTW. Go, try!

I also spent the weekend with Barney, Robin, Lily, Marshall and Ted! Amazingggggg. Natapos ko yung seasons one to four. Hihihihi. At Friday pa ko huling nagsuklay. May long weekend hangover pa ko!

Project Earrings # 7: Wild Hoops

I don’t think I’ve worn something like this before so wearing this pair would be some sort of experiment for me. I wouldn’t wear it with a skirt though. Hihihihi.

Project Earrings # 6: Pink Tassels

Project Earrings # 6 is all about tassels.

And I honestly don’t know who to give these to. My sister wore them last night and she looked kinda good! Mahaba kasi buhok nya and she has fair skin, kaya maganda. I might miss the look that I’d go for. Umangal yung friend kong bibigyan ko sana nito eh! Hahahaha. Masyadong pang show siguro. I promise to make the next pair more wearable. Hihi.

Project Earrings # 5: Arvin

I am waaaaay behind my Project Earrings. Anyway, let’s move on.

Today in Project Earrings, I made a pair of studs for my student turned friend, Arvin Alvarez. She’s one of the most fashion forward people I know and I looooove her clothes. I always tease her that she’s fat but really, isa sya sa mga piling taong kilala kong mukha pa ring kagalang-galang kahit gaano kaiksi ang shorts. Because she is–everything about the things that she chooses to do is uhhhh… matino. (I really can’t think of any other word, sorry for the colegiala vibe.) I think one of the reasons why I was so struck with Arvin’s personality when I’ve gotten to know her is because she strives to do what is logical. All the time. And I’ve never seen that much reason and determination to stick with what’s right in such a young girl. She’s been known for her drive to be the best in all things that she does. Sa driving at guitar lessons pa lang yata sya tinamad eh. Kahit Math 19 sa Ateneo eh kinakarir nya. Amazing diba. (Wait. Math 19 nga ba yun o Math 20? UGH. Why? Because she’s awesome like that.

OH and today, Arvin turns 19!! Official na. Magkasing-age na kami. Hihihihi. I know that the earrings that I made for her will not last forever, but I know that my love for her (and her family) will.

HAPPY BIRTDHAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY ARVIIIIIIIN!!

Project Earrings is making me cheesy. Ayos ‘to. I should consider starting making earrings for guys. Hihihihi.

Project Earrings: Nathania

Today in Project Earrings, I made a pair for my dear friend, Nathania:

I had a hard time coming up with a design para sa earrings na yan, kasi naisip ko, common naman kung pink earrings lang basta. En-En (mas pacute na name yan ni Nathania) is synonymous kasi to pink. Or anything girly siguro. So. Yan. For En-En’s earrings, hindi pwedeng hindi girly at hindi pwedeng walang touch of pink. Hihi. I hope she’ll like it. I chose a not so shocking shade of pink though, hindi na kasi kami twelve years old eh.

I don’t have that much beads, puro lang ako hooks and wires. Eh medyo laspag na yung designs na alam ko, so I need new materials badly. Kailangan ko nang mag-Quiapo. Yessssssss!

Project Earrings: Samantha

Project Earrings # 3 is for my student, Samantha! (Belated happy birthday, Sam!)

Sam turned 11 last Sunday (June 19) at dahil bata pa sya, hindi pa pwede yung malalanding earrings that I have in mind. I have to come up with a different design tomorrow. Hihihihi. Hopefully I can come up with something nice. Well. Sana may mahanap akong materials na pwedeng ransakin at gawing hikaw. Minsan kasi naninira ako ng old bracelets (or I really buy bracelets with really nice beads) and then I’ll salvage the parts that I want to use for a pair of earrings.

I’d like to think na in a way, ang opportunity cost ng ibang earrings ko ay ang mga nasira kong bracelets. Hihi. I NEED INSPIRATION FOR TOMORROW HUHUHUHU. So help me God.

Project Earrings: Carolina

I’m starting Project Earrings today! YAY! I will try to make at least one earrings per day for different people. Wala lang, gusto ko lang maging crafty. Tsaka para may reason ako to go to Quiapo!! (Quiapo is the best place to buy beads and other findings that are necessary to make earrings.)

My first project was for Astroboy. I hope I’d get to send her earrings this week para makita na nya! YAY!

My second project is for Tita Carol, whom I’ve met because of one of my student’s moms. I used to be really terrified of Tita Carol kasi may vibe syang ganon eh.

Hihi. This is the pair that I made for her this morning:

I’d like to think na kapareho nung design ni earrings si Tita Carol. Transparent, quirky at palaban–kasi may red eye. Hahahaha.

Project Earrings: Astroboy

I’d like to think that I am blessed, in more ways than I ever could imagine, when it comes to people that I meet and eventually become friends with. I’m going to send these earrings to Astroboy, the sweet girl whom I met because of The Morning Rush (RX 93.1, 6-10AM hosted by Chico and Delamar), not the superhero.

I’ve only been with Astroboy once, during the Monster Movie Premiere of The Time Traveler’s Wife two years ago. Hihihihi. I hope she likes these earrings though. She’s been really nice to me at alam kong tulad ko eh kikay rin sya. Yan, isang fumo-formal tapos isang pang-everyday or pang shirt days. Sana isoot nya sa date nila ng love of her life na si B1. Hihihihi.
