The Burger Project

The first time that we tried to eat at The Burger Project, it was closed. We went there on a Monday, and for some weird reason, sarado sila. Luckily, today is our day!

We were both newbies so basically, hindi namin alam ang gagawin. Ang alam namin, gusto namin ng burger. Whenever we eat somewhere, we’d try to order different stuff tapos kukurot na lang kami sa pagkain ng iba, just so we’d have an idea kung anong mas masarap etc. So Dremon added caramelized onions with the special BRGR sauce to his burger and I had onion rings and the barbecue sauce.

Ang pinakacool sa Burger Project? Isisigaw nila ang pangalan ng burger mo. Hahahaha. Malay ko ba.

Meet the Drem Burger:

And this is the Dyosaimma Burger:

Nauna yung Drem Burger (Dream Burger). When Dremon stood up to get his burger, dun ko naramdaman ang fear. So sabi ko, “Tatawagin nila?” Then straight face. So sabi ni Dremon, “Ano, ako kukuha?” (Naisip ko nyan, “Whoa this guy is mabait.” Hahaha. Wala lang. Chos moment.) Anyway, so yun, sinigaw nga nila ang “DYOSAIMMA BURGER!” In fairness, they said it right. Hihi. So keri lang nung tumayo. Next time, Imma Burger na lang.

We didn’t put cheese in our burgers kasi feeling namin mahal eh. (Well, medyo mahal talaga for cheese. Either that or kuripot lang talaga kami.) There are guides written on the boards in The Burger Project which you can choose to follow, kung wala kang idea sa dapat mong ilagay. It’s kinda hard to make a burger, actually. Kasi ang dami ngang pwedeng ilagay so the possibilities are endless. Well, hindi naman endless, kasi pag-pinermute mo yung choices… Ewww geek. Hahahaha.

I’d have to say that the Burger Project’s edge is that it has a fresh concept, pero kung lasa ang pag-uusapan, there’s so much room for improvement. I’ve had other burgers before na mas tumatak ang lasa sa akin, like the ones in Johnny Rocketts, Brother’s Burgers and Wham! Burgers. The bread was dull, parang bread ng Minute Burger ang level. Or maybe we should’ve gotten the potato bread instead no? It was the barbecue sauce that made my burger good, I’d have to say. (Recommended din yan ni kuya dun.) It was salty enough to sort of sew the taste of everything that’s in my burger. Dremon’s burger on the other hand, was also quite good. May kulang, pero ok  na rin. The special BRGR sauce is uh, burger sauce? Yung parang sa Jollibee, ganon. The caramelized onions were yummy too. Maybe he should’ve put a different sauce, baka nagkaroon pa ng kick. Whoooosh. Overanalyzing food critics mode is sooo on.

We also ordered fries:

An order costs P60, BTW. I think the price is fair enough for a batch of fries kasi lasang fresh. Well, fresh as in sure kang galing sa patatas kind of fresh in terms of fries. We were choosing between the onion rings and this, eh dahil may onion rings na sa burger ko, we chose fries instead. Ok naman. Yun lang, wag agad kakain pagdating kasi medyo mainit. Masakit sa dila pag napaso levels kind of init.

I will try to read more reviews about The Burger Project from other bloggers, just so pagbalik namin, alam na namin gagawin. As I’ve said, the concept behind The Burger Project is good, but a restaurant should not just rely on how juicy the concept is, but it should also make sure that the food that their customers are having is more juicy than the gimmick.
